Watch This Space

Sequoia Industries is actively testing some innovative new materials with CO2 negative attributes,
and opportunities to aggregate a variety of waste materials which can help divert waste from landfill and prevent leeching of micro-plastics into the ocean.

We are always working to source and develop materials with a favorable full life cycle assessment, so what we do today helps preserve tomorrow.

Stay in touch and we look forward to bringing innovation and sustainable solutions to your next project.

Cork

Cork is a renewable natural resource harvested from the cork oak tree – Quercus Suber.

Cork is harvested on a 9-year cycle with no harm to the tree. Cork forests provide an important bio-diverse habitat to several endangered animals and are carbon sequestering. Our Portuguese supplier adheres to strict codes of forestry and environmental management.

Cork is a versatile, lightweight and durable material available in slabs and sheets. Our cork slabs are created from post-industrial waste from wine cork manufacturing. It has many applications for furniture, fixtures and wall systems. Cork can be clear coated to enhance its unique look, or painted, stained and printed in custom designs.

Recycled Paperboards

Made with 100% post-consumer recycled papers and waste-to-energy technology, paperboards come in beautiful solid core colors, and with distinctive striated edge details.

Paperboards are water-resistant, food-safe, have low moisture absorption, heat and fire-resistant, extraordinarily dense and durable, and has a natural appeal due to its paper construction. Interior and exterior applications for furniture, countertops, cabinetry and paneling.

Dense, consistent and without voids, paperboards are an ideal machinable material for milling, drilling, routing , joining and complex patterns.

BAMBOO

Bamboo is a very fast growing and renewable resource. In the time it takes to grow a Douglas Fir tree (commonly used in plywood production) to harvestable size, bamboo can yield up to 40 harvests. Bamboo is a great alternative to hardwoods and conventional plywood for its strength and performance.

Available in a range of thicknesses and colors, bamboo has indoor and outdoor applications for cladding, structural beams, paneling, fixtures and furniture. Sequoia Industries uses giant bamboo of the Moso species which grows within forests and is harvested without clear cutting. Available with FSC certification.

Engineered
BAMBOO

Under heat and extreme pressure, Moso bamboo is compressed to half its original size – the cellular structure fuses to become twice as dense, and twice as heavy, creating a viable alternative to increasingly scarce tropical hardwoods. The process generates an exceptionally hard and very weatherproof building material. Engineered bamboo has structural applications , as well as exterior cladding, decking, fencing and outdoor furniture.

Accoya™

Accoya™ is a pine timber modified through an acetylation process creating a high performance, weatherproof, fire rated timber.

Applications include interior and exterior furniture, cladding and decking.

It weathers to a silvery grey over time.

Accredited by the FSC™ and Cradle to Cradle™ Gold-certified. Sustainably sourced with a low total lifetime carbon cost.

FSC™
Plywood

Sourced from responsibly managed domestic forests and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Plywood without F.S.C™ label can come from regions where old-growth forest is being clear-cut illegally; impacting indigenous people, natural ecosystems, and biodiversity.

F.S.C™ plywood is a cost-effective, versatile solution for many applications from furniture to fixtures and wall panel systems. Can be finished with paint, stain or clear-coat to maintain its natural grain and color.

F.S.C.™ plywood comes in a range of hardwood veneers. It can be thermoformed or CNC milled and stacked for more dimensional designs.

FSC™
Hardwoods

Sourced from responsibly managed forests and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Wood without the F.S.C.™ label can come from regions where old-growth forest is being clear-cut unsustainably.

Sequoia Industries sources domestic species of F.S.C.™ hardwoods to be crafted into fine furniture and fixtures using traditional woodworking and joinery or advanced CNC milling.

Finishes include natural oils, stains and low VOC PU’s, all compliant with CA codes. Available domestic FSC™ species –

Oak . Walnut . Cherry . Maple . Poplar

Bio-Boards

Bio-boards, are the next generation of sheet materials.

Derived from a variety of waste agricultural and industrial biomass sources, either wheat straw, rice straw, sorghum, wood chips or newspaper – fibers that are left in the field after harvests, and are typically burned, adding CO2 to the atmosphere., or post-industrial waste sent to landfill.

Using an advanced processing technology, bio-boards are superior to other M.D.F or wood waste particleboards in durability, hardness, strength, moisture and fire resistance.

Reclaimed
Lumber

Reclaimed wood from abandoned barns or shuttered industrial factories can be given new life in commercial and residential furniture, countertops or paneling.

Designs can celebrate the natural characteristic markings of the materials unique story or can be clean milled for a fresh new look.

We have sources for domestic reclaimed woods –
Douglas Fir, Cedar, Redwood, White Ok, Red Oak, Beech, Chestnut, Walnut, & for prized hardwoods -Indonesian Teak, Rosewood & Ironwood.
Each wood lot is unique.

Recylced
Plastics

There are a range of pre and post consumer 100% recycled waste plastics now available – including clear, translucent and colorful cast acrylic sheets – a great replacement for virgin acrylic; as well as compressed recycled HDPE from plastic bottles. Available in novelty patterns, solid colors and different thicknesses for endless interior and exterior applications. Recycled plastic can be milled and joined like any sheet material and can be stamped with a recycled symbol, so your customers know it’s not just another plastic product.

We have suppliers in USA, Mexico and Europe offering exciting new materials in this growing market.

Up-Cycling

Up-cycling is the creative reimagining of any “waste” product.

If your industry uses a material that you would like to reimagine in your design concept, we can collaborate to create new up-cycled designs for wall panels, shelving or furniture.

The sky’s the limit, this is where imagination and ingenuity come together.
